Limerick - Marie A. Paradis, 96, of Limerick died at her home on October 19, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Central Falls, Rhode IsIand on September 1, 1922, a daughter of Honore and Marie (Fournier) Lefebvre and was educated in Rhode Island catholic schools.
Her first job was in a textile mill in Rhode Island before moving to Maine. She married Roland E. Paradis on October 6, 1945. Marie was a stay at home mom while her children were young. She worked for many years at the Limerick Footwear Co., and later worked as a teacher's aid for many years at the Newfield Elementary and Line Elementary schools. She worked several more years with her daughter-in-law at Amy's Daycare in Limerick.
Marie was very active at St. Matthew's Catholic Church including being secretary for the Ladies Sodality for several years. She enjoyed crocheting and was known for her afghans. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her large loving family.
Her family would like to give special thanks to Mary Beth Roberge for her loving care of Marie for the past several years.
Besides her parents and her beloved husband, she is predeceased by a daughter, Rachel Hammond, a son, George Paradis, and several siblings. Surviving are 3 children: Jacqueline Harmon and her husband Edward, Richard Paradis and his wife Amy, and Theresa Paradis all of Limerick. A sister, Jeanne Hervieux of Rhode Island. Also many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, October 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple Street, Cornish. A funeral Mass will be on Thursday, October 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church, 19 Dora Lane, Limerick. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Limerick.
