William E. “Billy” Canter, 74, of Tifton passed away Friday, October 19, 2018, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Rickey Wells officiating. Mr. Canter will be laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery following the service. The family will greet friends Monday, October 22, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Canter’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 4, 1944 in Pavo, Mr. Canter was the son of the late William P. Canter and Lucy Stephens Canter. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Boyles and Patricia Armstrong. He attended school in Tift County and worked as a self-employed truck driver.
He loved his wife, his family and driving his truck. His sense of humor carried him through life and he loved each moment.
Mr. Canter is survived by his wife, Faye Goforth Canter; two sisters, Abbie Fletcher and Sherrall Clements; and many loving nieces and nephews.
