Obituary

HOLYOKE ~ Beryl G. (Walpole) Mayo, 87, of Holyoke and a former longtime resident of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at her home at the Founders Hall at Loomis House in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Norwich, Norfolk County, England on October 21, 1930, a beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys (Blazer) Walpole. She was raised in Norwich, England, graduated Norwich schools and moved to Holyoke following her marriage in 1952. She lived in Holyoke before settling in the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1971 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant to the President of Hampshire National Bank in South Hadley for 20 years and later worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Law Offices of Ryan and Boudreau in South Hadley until the age of 82. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Holyoke. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and ceramics. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and she showered them with her love and affection that was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Charles J. “Chuck” Mayo, Jr. They were married on March 28, 1952 at Saint Andrew Church in Norwich, England and were blessed with over 66 years of happiness together. She also leaves her four loving children, Charlene B. Craigle and her companion, Wayne Gabbert, of Clancy, MT, Jason C. Mayo and his wife, MaryAnn, of Chicopee, Tyler A. Mayo and his husband, Tom Crutchfield, of the Bronx, NY and Bradley J. Mayo and his wife, Janet, of Chicopee; her four cherished grandchildren, Tana Clairmont and her husband, Joel, Cody Craigle, Jonathan Mayo and Christopher Mayo and his companion, Grace Ziobrowski; her two cherished great-grandchildren, Jaclyn and Gene Clairmont; her dear sister, Christine Hague of England; her three dear brothers-in-law, Derek Cossey of England, Russell Mayo and his wife, Catherine, of South Hadley and Kenneth Mayo and his wife, Irene, of Agawam; her dear sister-in-law, June Dellapenna and her husband, Charles “Chachi” Dellapenna, of Las Vegas, NV; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Mayo and Walpole families. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her dear son-in-law, William “Tim” Craigle; her dear sister, Maureen Cossey; her dear brother-in-law, Patrick Hague; and her two dear sisters-in-law, Doris Joyal and her husband, George, and Elaine Mayo. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, October 23, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home parking lot is located at the rear.
