Donald R. Cleghorn, Jr., 64, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Saturday, October 13, 2018, at his residence.
Services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Jay Roberson and the Rev. James Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in Henderson Chapel Church Cemetery, in Irwin County. A Rosary service will be held 5:30PM at funeral home in Ocilla. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Cleghorn was born September 24, 1954, in Irwin County, Georgia, to Betty Jane Walker Cleghorn Hendley and the late Donald Russell Cleghorn, Sr. He lived in the community most of his life. Mr. Cleghorn graduated from Irwin County High School in 1972, where he enjoyed playing football and baseball. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy for 20 years. Mr. Cleghorn was employed at T.C. Transcontinental, formerly known as Coveris in Tifton. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Mr. Cleghorn was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Paula M. Viens Cleghorn of Ocilla; son , Donald Cleghorn III & daughter-in-law, Sandy; son, Philip Cleghorn and daughter, Christine Cleghorn Branch & son-in-law, Jonathan, all of Ocilla; grandchildren: Izabella Cleghorn, Scarlette Cleghorn, Zebastian Cleghorn and James Branch; his mother Betty Jane Walker Cleghorn Hendley and step-father, Alfred Loren Hendley of Irwin County; step-mother, Judy Cleghorn of Irwin County; sister & brother-in-law, Brenda Cleghorn Fletcher & Rick, brother & sister-in-law, Michael Cleghorn & Linda, sister & brother-in-law, Joy Cleghorn Edenfield & James and sister, April Cleghorn Watson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
