LEICESTER___Rita M. (Romanowski) Monovich, 92, of Leicester, formerly of Worcester passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 10, 2018 in The Meadows of Leicester. Her husband of 60 years Stephen P. Monovich died in 2006.
She leaves three daughters, Barbara J. Splane and her husband Joseph of Charlton; Stephanie J. Schwarzenberger and her husband Gary of Olathe, Kansas and Elaine M. Dryden and her husband James C. of Leicester; five grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, a brother, John Romanowski of Auburn and several nieces and nephews. Rita would have been a great great-grandmother this December. She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Thomas Romanowski. Rita was born in Worcester a daughter of Anthony and Lottie (Sandecki) Romanowski and lived in Worcester for most of her life.
Mrs. Monovich was a loving homemaker and caregiver for her family members and friends. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Worcester. A special thank you to all her “angels” that took care of Rita at The Meadows in Leicester on the first floor. They truly were her extended family.
The funeral will be held on Friday October 12, 2018 from HENRY- DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St, Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St, Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held in the funeral home on Friday October 12, 2018 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN., 38105.
