BUXTON- Jerry K. Cox, age 55, passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, after a five year battle with cancer.
He was born in Portland on April 3, 1963, a son of Robert and Mary Joe (Wellington) Cox.
He is a 1981 graduate of Bonny Eagle High School. He went on to serve the country in the Army National Guard and worked throughout his life as a building contractor.
He will always be remembered for his love of family and friends and the joy he had building and working on projects.
He volunteered for the Boy and Girls Club in years past
He is predeceased by his father Robert.
Jerry is survived by his best friend and the love of his life Lucille “Snaps” Barnhart of Buxton; mother- Mary Joe Cox of Buxton; children- Jonathan Cox of Buxton, Jeremy Cox of Buxton, Jason Cox and his wife Maranda of Sanford, NC, Sandra Cox of Sanford, NC, and Jamie Howe of Standish; eleven grandchildren brothers-“Chipper” Cox and his wife Betty of Buxton and “Buddy” Cox and his wife Debbie of Lexington, AL; sister- Robin Prescott and her husband Jim of South Portland; best friend- Stevie Marston; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday Oct. 13, starting at 1 PM at 72 Rocky Dundee Road in Buxton. Burial will be at a later date at South Buxton Cemetery.
