Obituary

Ralph A. Candela 78, of Norfolk, died peacefully, Monday October 1, 2018 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, following an illness.

Born January 8, 1940 in Norfolk, a son of the late Rotilio and Orsola (Rainone) Candela, he was a lifelong Norfolk resident.

He was raised and educated in Norfolk and was a graduate of Walpole High School. Ralph was a self-employed carpenter until retiring.

A proud American, Ralph served his country in the United States Army. He attained the rank of PVT and was honorably discharged in August 1960.

He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. Ralph also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and using the computer.

Ralph is survived by a son Jeffrey F. “Jeff” Candela of Norfolk, siblings, Frank Candela of Mansfield, Louis Candela of Norfolk, Pauline Valente of Wrentham, Rose White of Norfolk, Grace Jones of Franklin, Ann Colello of Millis and Josephine Cisternelli of Wrentham. He also leaves his longtime companion Sandra Rubin of Chestnut Hill and many nieces & nephews.

He was the brother of the late Julius Candela and the former husband of the late Louise A. (Landry) Candela.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Sat. Oct. 6th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Jude Church, 86 Main St. Norfolk, MA at 10AM.

Interment with military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.

Calling hours are Friday from 4-6PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to St. Jude Church, Norfolk.
