Obituary

MRS. ANN M. (HUSSEY) LITTLE: Ann was born in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland and boldly immigrated to the United States in her late teen years. She worked in a variety of demanding administrative occupations including work with Americana Encyclopedia and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Ann eventually settled in Medford, MA where she married the love of her life, Richard Little, in 1964. Richard unexpectedly passed away in 1970 while on duty as a Detective Lieutenant Inspector with the Massachusetts State Police. Ann remained so fully committed to his loving memory that she never dated or remarried.

In 1974 she traveled back to Tralee, Ireland with her daughter Tara. As Tara’s drive, passion and success as a champion Irish dancer and theatre performer grew, Ann became involved in costume design and dress creation to support her daughter. Ann ultimately became intricately involved in the stage school performances at the multiple Little Stage School venues. Through her tireless, creative approach, Ann left a lasting impact on countless performers, young and old, across Ireland.

Ann ultimately moved back to the United States with her family in 2009 settling in Gilford, New Hampshire and ultimately Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Word of Ann’s passing quickly spread among the global dance and theater community with substantial outpouring of remembrances and affection, especially from Ireland, where she is remembered with great love and fondness. Her contributions are so grandly recognized in Ireland that she will be specifically mentioned in Irish Mass services.

Ann is survived by her loving daughter; Tara and her husband Scott Orr of Gilford, New Hampshire, siblings; Liam Hussey, James Hussey, Helen Murphy, Kay Horgan, Bridget Laidlaw and Patricia Duggan, cherished grandchildren; Tyler Browne and Jordan Browne and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Thomas Hussey.

Her funeral will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
