Bernard W. “Bill” Pizura, 76

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Bernard W. “Bill” Pizura, age 76, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 30, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Denise (Sheehan) Pizura, to whom he was wed on April 16, 1966.

Born in Boston, MA on September 16, 1942, he was a loving son of the late Bernard P. and Janina (Wolochowicz) Pizura.

Bill spent his early childhood living in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston. At age eleven his family moved to Canton where he was a 1960 graduate of Canton High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and also received his associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University.

Mr. Pizura had made his home in Mansfield for the past forty-two years, and prior to retiring was the owner of Fire Resources, a company he operated for fifteen years in Assonet.

Bill was a communicant of St Mary’s Church in Mansfield. His memberships included the Stoughton Knights of Columbus, the Middleboro Elks, the 100 Club, the Canton American Legion and was an honorable member of the Massachusetts Fire Chiefs Association.

Bill loved spending time with his adoring family and grandsons. He enjoyed playing golf, working outdoors and will always be remembered fondly as a people-person.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his devoted children: Kevin W. Pizura and his wife Robin of North Attleboro, and Kathy A. Pizura and her longtime companion Adam Flynn of Attleboro. He was the cherished grandfather of Dylan Pizura and Jake Pizura. He was the dear brother of Francis Pizura and his wife Diane of Norton and Jeannine Donovan of Portland, Maine. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.


His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday, October 5th at 11:00 A.M. in St Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield, Burial will follow at St Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 4th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.
