Obituary

STANDISH- Marjorie Irene Lombard Marean Poole, age 100, passed away on September 25th at Gorham House, surrounded by her loving family.  Marjorie Irene was born in Portland, ME on November 28, 1917 to Guy and Clara (Littlefield) Lombard.
She attended school in Standish where she met and married Carl Marean and had five children.  
Marjorie was a homemaker up until she went to work at George E. Jack School’s lunch program where she eventually became the manager.  Lovingly known as Nannie Poole, she served the community’s children for 35 years.  In addition, she played a vital role in the consolidation of SAD 6.  Marjorie spent her summers as the head cook at Camp Sunningdale and Luther Gulick girls camps. 
Marjorie was a member of the Standish Congregational Church and a Past Matron of Dawn of Hope Chapter and a lifetime member of Cornerstone Chapter OES. 
Marjorie enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking, traveling, rides to the casino, watching the Red Sox and most of all spending time with her family.    
Marjorie was predeceased by her first husband Carl E. Marean, her second husband, Atwood P. Poole, her daughter Diane Marean Gryskwicz and her daughter-in-law Jane Marean.  
Marjorie is survived by her children Neal Marean and his wife Bevalie of Standish, Donald Marean and his wife Linda of Hollis, Carl Marean of Standish, Clifton Marean and his wife Carroll of Standish and her son-in-law Gerald Gryskwicz of Standish.   
Nannie’s blessings include 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and counting.  
The family extends gratitude to the caregivers at the Gorham House for their attention and loving care during her stay there.  

Visiting hours will be held on Monday Oct. 1 from 11 AM – 1 PM, followed by a 1 PM funeral service at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.  Burial will then follow at Dow’s Corner Cemetery in Standish.
