Obituary

William D. Smith 57, of Pawtucket, RI, died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends Wednesday September 19, 2018 at home, following an illness.

Born in Norwood a son of Patricia L. (Lynch) Dingle of Woonsocket, and the late William D. Smith, Sr., he was a former longtime Franklin resident and Dad William Koivu of Bocca Raton, Fl.


He was raised and educated in Franklin and worked as a carpenter.


A proud American, he served his country in the United States Army. He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Aircraft Crewman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Driver’s Badge and the Marksman Rifle Badge, and was honorably discharged in 1984.


William was a fan of the New England Patriots and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.


In addition to his mother he is survived by his longtime girlfriend Karen Beetlestone, children, Morgan Smith, Garrett Smith both of Uxbridge and Kyle Moran of Franklin, sisters, Theresa Smith of CT, Dorothea Smith of RI, Paula Trautwein of Milford, Ma. Brothers, Bryan Smith of Bellingham, Edward Koivu of Georgia, Kenneth Koivu of Georgia, He was also the former husband of Tracy McDonald of Uxbridge and many neices and nephews


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Saturday Sept. 29th, at 2PM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St.


Calling hours are Saturday from 12-2PM

Following the service the family would like to invite everyone back to their home located at 62 Meadow Rd Woonsocket, RI
