Westport – Edna M. (Slocum) Pierce, 82, of Pine Hill Road, Westport died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at home after a long illness. She was the wife of William C. Pierce.
She was born in Waltham, MA, daughter of the late Howard A. and Louise W. (Reynolds) Slocum, and had resided in Westport for the past 63 years. A graduate of Dartmouth High School, she was a clerk for the United States Postal service until her retirement and the co-owner of Berry Hill Farm in Westport. She was a member of the Pacific Union Congregational Church, Westport, the Westport Womens Club, the Massachusetts Cultivated Blueberry Association and the National Association of Retired Federal Workers.
Including her husband, she is survived by a son: Robert W. Pierce of Westport; a brother: Howard A. Slocum, Jr. of North Carolina; 5 grandchildren: Sue Ann Pierce, Matthew C. Pierce, Jennifer Lee Pierce-Durot, Bethany M. Pierce-Klos and Brittany E. Pierce; 5 great grandchildren: Alexander R. Pierce-Mercer, Hope E. Durot, Rebecca E. Pierce, Paige E. Klos and Pierce R. Klos; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Charles A. Pierce.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, December 9, 2005 at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Thursday 5 – 8 P.M.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
