BRIDGEWATER - Jeffrey A. Weichel, 38, of Bridgewater died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Brockton, he was the son of William “Terry” Weichel of Latta, S.C., & Barbara (Bunker) Weichel of Bridgewater.
Mr. Weichel was a graduate of Bristol-Plymouth Vocational High School in Taunton, Class of 1985.
He was The Enterprise's Sportsman of the Year for his Bristol-Plymouth soccer playing in 1985.
While at Bristol-Plymouth, Mr. Weichel studied the trade of autobody repair and had been self-employed in that trade for the past 23 years.
He enjoyed canoeing, fishing and restoring old cars.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Jeffrey Weichel Jr. and Rebecca Weichel, both of Taunton; his brothers and sister, Bill Weichel of Wareham, Joseph Weichel of Allentown, N.H., and LuAnn Willete of Bridgewater; his former wife, Carolin (DaPonte) Weichel. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Thursday at 10 am.
Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-8 pm. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
