WORCESTER___Diane M. (D’Andrea) Bain, 56, of Worcester died Thursday, December 1, in St. Vincent Hospital.
She leaves her husband of 33 years, John K. Bain; a daughter Cheryl L. Marrero and her husband Israel; three sons, John K. Bain and his wife Sheryl of Templeton, David A. Bain of Vero Beach, FL, and Jeffrey S. Bain and his wife Lissette of Worcester; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren. She was born in Westfield, daughter of John and Eva (Gerulis) D’Andrea, and lived in Worcester all of her life.
Mrs. Bain was a Registered Nurse. She was a graduate of North High School and Quinsigamond Community College in 1971 receiving an Associate Degree in Nursing. She later received her Bachelors Degree of Science with high honors from Worcester State College and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Graduate School of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts in 1987. She was a Critical Care Staff Nurse and Assistant Head Nurse at St. Vincent Hospital, as well as an instructor at the School of Nursing there. She was a Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist at the University of Massachusetts Hospital and an Associate Faculty member at the Graduate School of Nursing there and at Worcester State College. Mrs. Bain was also a lecturer and presenter of Critical Care topics and a nurse reviewer for several professional journals. She was a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and the Iota Phi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and listed in “Who’s Who of American Women.” Diane also was a member of the Lithuanian War Veterans Auxiliary and the Grafton Hill Post American Legion Auxiliary.
The funeral will be held on Monday, December 5, from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church, 75 Alvarado Ave. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, December 4, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
