Obituary

Marjorie Chapin Warden – age 93, born in Winchester she was a lifetime resident of Lexington, and Swansea , passed away on Sept. 16, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth L. Warden.

Mrs. Warden was raised and educated in Winchester, and was a graduate of Winchester High School. After high school, she attended the Katharine Gibbs School and subsequently worked as an executive secretary for the Dean of Harvard Business School, GTE Sylvania, and retired as and administrative assistant for an employment agency.

Marjorie met her husband, Ken, when she worked at Harvard, and he was a student there. Her daughters shared how Marjorie’s boss introduced her to Ken, as she thought he was too thin, and asked Marjorie too keep an eye on him.

They married and made their home in Lexington, where they raised their family. Marjorie became a homemaker extraordinaire.

In her spare time, Mrs. Warden, who loved flowers, enjoyed membership in the Lexington Garden Club, where she served as president. She also enjoyed birdwatching and kept many birdfeeders to attract different species. She also enjoyed baking, and with 8 of her friends, played bridge and poker regularly. The family also enjoyed special times at their cottage on the Cape in Eastham for over thirty years, especially watching the sunset on the bay.

Marjorie is lovingly survived by her children: David Warden of Woburn, Susan Tacito and her husband Mike DeVincent of Woburn, and Judy Reichenbach and her husband Eric of NJ. She also leaves her dear sister, Virginia Morgan and her late husband Jack of FL, and is further survived by her 7 grandchildren, Stephen ,Brian, Danny, Matt, Kristen, Dana and Brooke, 2 great-grandchildren and 4 nieces and nephews. Relatives and Friends are kindly invited to gather at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Thursday, Sept. 20 from 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 8PM. Private burial will be in Orleans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Compassus Hospice 790 Turnpike St., Suite 302, North Andover, MA 01845.
