Ann Regina (O'Donnell) Collins a lifelong resident of Charlestown died on Wednesday November 30, 2005 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston following a short battle with cancer. She was 60 years old.
Ann was born in Boston on July 18, 1945 and grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Catherine's Church Grammer School. She graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School in South Boston in 1963. Following graduation she worked as a clerk for several years at New England Telephone Company. Most of her adult life was dedicated to the care of her family. In recent years Ann worked as a secretary at the State House on Beacon Hill.
Ann is the beloved wife of Frederick J. Collins. She is the devoted mother of Helen Walsh of Stoneham, Frederick J. Collins Jr., Cheryl Gallgher, Mark and Michael Collins all of Charlestown. She is the loving "Nana" of Meghan, Devin, Annemaire and Noel. She is the beloved sister of Mary Doherty of Charlestown, Helen Morrissey of Medford, Col. James P. O'Donnell U.S.M.C. (Ret.) of Virginia the late Peter G., John, Bernard and Hughie O'Donnell. Also dear aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Ann's Funeral will be held on Monday December 5, 2005 from the Frank H. Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 9 am. followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Ann will be on Sunday December 4, 2005 from 2 to 6 pm. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, Mass.
