Stephen A. Benoit, age 59, of Chicopee passed away on July 28, 2018. He was born on Sept. 24, 1958 in Holyoke, MA. Stephen was a son of the late Donald R. and Lois L. (Manchester) Benoit. He worked in the shipping and receiving department of the Tsubaki Manufacturing Company in Holyoke for over 42 years before he retired. He was a former communicant of St Rose de Lima Parish and taught CCD at St Rose for many years. He also worked as a bartender for Foggies Lounge for many years. Stephen was a huge Red Sox Fan and avid sports car enthusiast. He is survived by his brother Donald Benoit Jr., of South Hadley, 4 sisters, Ann Werbicki and her husband John of Belchertown, Teresa Benoit of Monson, Mary Russell and her husband Steven of New River, AZ and Paula Cox of Monson; 2 nephews, Nicholas and Christopher, 3 nieces, Maramonie, Ariel and Alexandra; 1 great niece, Daphne, 1 great nephew Maxamillion; 2 uncles, Edwin Manchester and his wife Terry and Richard Manchester and his wife Marie; 2 aunts, Barbara Champagne and Barbara Douglas along with many cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Memorial Mass in St Rose de Lima Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St Stanislaus Cemetery.
