Elsie M. (Mello) Silva, 92, of Dartmouth died Sunday November 27, 2005 at New Bedford Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Silva.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Perry Ponte) Mello, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life, before moving to Dartmouth.
Mrs. Silva was formerly employed by Madewell Manufacturing Company as a seamstress until her retirement in 1976.
She was a former member of the Playdium Bowling League.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Pamela A. Karalekas of New Hampshire and Dean Karalekas and his wife Kim of New Bedford; her son-in-law, Demo W. Karalekas of New Bedford; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Beverly A. Karalekas and the sister of the late Laura Avila, Mary P. Mendoza, William Mello, Albert Mello, Manuel Mello, and Virgilio Mello.
A private Funeral Service was held on Tuesday morning in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Entombment followed at Pine Grove Cemetery.
