Obituary

Nicholas Symock, 74, died Sunday, November 27, 2005, at home. He was born in Worcester, son of Kosmo and Victoria "Ethel" (Tanca) Symock. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School and was an installer for the New England Telephone Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member and founder of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America #20 and Webster Lodge AF & AM. Nicholas was a Korean War Veteran in the U.S. Air Force and later a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Nicholas was dearly loved and was a hero to all his family. He is survived by a sister, Mary E. Tanacea, of Worcester; a brother, Vasil Symock of Worcester; a brother and sister-in-law, George M. and Catherine Symock of Shrewsbury; 2 nieces, Ann Marie Clem and her husband Robert of Charlton and Elaine Killick and her husband Nick of Worcester; 3 nephews, Lt. Col. Michael T. Symock and his wife Kimberly of Arlington, VA, David J. Symock and his wife Angela of Douglas, and Joseph A. Symock of Shrewsbury; grandnieces and grandnephews, Matthew and Michael Clem, Elodie Killick, and Kosmo and Victoria Symock. He also leaves his long-time companion, Rita Skamarock.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, at 10:00 a.m., in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wed., Nov. 30 from 4-8 pm in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. A Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 pm during the calling hours. Another calling hour will be held at the church from 9-10 a.m. before the funeral service. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Building Fund of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold St., Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
