VIRGINIA SEDGWICK (STUART) WOOD, age 85, of Warren, MA, formerly of Cohasset, died on Thanksgiving Morning at the Hingham residence of her son Bruce.
"Jini" grew up in Berkley, CA, Rockport, MA and St. Petersburg, FL. She attended William & Mary College in Virginia. She was one of the founders of the Cohasset Sailing Club and owned a 'Lightning'. Jini was a staff reporter for The Patriot Ledger, covering Massport and the State House in Boston during the 1960's and 70's. Born in Paris, France, Jini traveled throughout the world and lived in many places as a Navy wife. A staunch New Englander, she always considered Cohasset, where she lived for over 20 years, to be her real home. Following her years in Cohasset, she lived at various times in Florida, Scituate and 10 years in Keene, NH before moving to Warren 5 years ago.
Wife of the late Emmett W. Wood, she leaves her daughter; Andrea Wood of New Ipswich, NH and two sons; Brad Wood of Burke, VA and Bruce Wood of Hingham. Also survived by 5 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 3rd at 4:00 PM at the First Parish Unitarian Church, 23 North Main St., Cohasset.
