Sophia (Ostalkiewicz) Welch, a longtime resident of Andover, passed away at the Blaire House in Tewksbury, surrounded by her loving family on July 27, 2018. Sophia was born to the late Vincent and Martha Ostalkiewicz in Salem, MA on March 29, 1928. She lived a long life full of love, laughter and poise.
Sophia had been the owner of the modeling and talent agencies, The Carol Nashe Agency and Models By Sophia. She later developed her interests in astrology, gemology and also became active in the Bruno Gröning Circle of Friends.
Sophia is survived by her cherished children; Jerome Welch of Methuen, MA, Gregory Welch and his wife Susan Welch of Andover, MA, Christopher Welch and his husband Justin Hernandez of Glendale, CA, Darien Welch of Los Angeles, CA, Trish Dobson and her husband Carl Dobson of Richmond, CA and Joseph Welch and his wife Marion Welch of Ridgefield CT, along with 9 grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018, in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral Service will follow visitation at 4:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, Sophia would have appreciated donations to New England Hospice, which made her comfortable during her final days. She will be missed but her spirit will live on within us.
