John H. Bonasera, 78, passed in peace on January 17, 2018 in his Deerfield Beach, FL home. Predeceased by his loving wife, Andrea (Hammond) of 42 years who passed away in 2015. John was born in Medford to the late Tina (DeFrancesco) and Salvatore (Sam) Bonasera on July 6, 1939. John graduated from Medford Vocational High School in 1957. He proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserves. Following his father’s path, he worked for the Medford Fire Department where he retired as a Captain. Those who loved him most called him Dad, Papa, Jackie, Uncle Jackie, Papa John, friend.
He is survived by his four daughters, Dana (Bonasera) Gobbi, Patti Bonasera and her husband Tracy Shidlow, Melissa Bonasera, and Christina (Bonasera) Almeida; the true loves of his life, his grandchildren, Tayla, Ally and Jack; and great-grandson Luca; his sisters Marie (Bonasera) Courtney and her husband Tom and Christine (Bonasera) Gregoire; his brother, Henry Bonasera and his wife, Eileen; his sister-in-law, Karen Hammond-Puleo and her husband, Paul; and his beloved nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated in St Joseph's Church, 118 High St, Medford, on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
