Obituary

Zigmas B. Dabrila, 95, of Worcester, died peacefully on Friday June 29, 2018 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Joanna (Coskie) Dabrila, two daughters, Asta J. Dabrila and her husband Mark Makowski of Dover, NH., and Gita Dabrila Sullivan and her husband Emmett Sullivan of Madison, CT., three grandchildren, Redmond Quinn Sullivan, Aidas Dabrila Sullivan and Eliana Sofia Sullivan, a sister, Aldona Pilipaitiene in Lithuania and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Svajunas Dabrila in 1968 and by two brothers, Jeronimas Vytaustas Dabrila, Vincas Dabrila and by a sister, Leokadia (Liuse Dabrilaite) Stadalninkiene. Zigmas was born and raised in Vilkaviskis, Lithuania, a son of the late Juozas and Elzbieta (Lazauskaite) Dabrila. He came to America in 1950.

Zigmas was a draftsman 9 years with Wyman Gordon Company. Previously he was a draftsman 9 years for Crompton & Knowles Co. He retired 30 years ago. Zigmas attended Universities in Lithuania and Germany. Zigmas was a member of the former St. Casimir Church, its choir and served as a lector there. He was a member and served as treasurer of the Lithuanian Naturalization and Social Club, was a member of Maironis Park, Lithuanian Art Lover’s Circle and the Lithuanian Charitable Society. Zigmas was an avid gardener enjoyed billiards, reading and had a special appreciation for poetry. Mr. & Mrs. Dabrila observed their 66th wedding anniversary on Thursday June 28th.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday July 3, 2018 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. John Church, 40 Temple Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday July 3, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M.
