Obituary

Lamar Green, 86, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, with the Rev. George Carroll Paulk and the Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Riverbend Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mr. Green was born August 2, 1931, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Raymond F. & Lena Mae DeBerry Green. He attended Irwin County schools and served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mr. Green owned and operated Green’s House Moving for many years. He loved to fish and spend time in the mountains. Mr. Green enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member and past deacon of Riverbend Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alice M. Green of Ocilla; children: Jane Bristol, Linda Ann Green, Kay Vickers, Beth Williams & Doug, and Norman Green, all of Ocilla; grandchildren: Lee Green, Anna Maddox, Norman Taylor & Kim, Dyan Merrifield & Craig, Kyle Nyberg & Brette, Matthew Green & Melanie, and Jordan Green & Shanna; as well as numerous blessed great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Shirley Mixon of Ocilla and Norma Handley of Ocilla, also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Alison Faith Nyberg and William Brent Taylor.
