Guy Carl Gennelly, a Boston resident for over forty-five years, passed away peacefully at the North End Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Boston, on Saturday November 19, following a extended illness. He was ninety-six years of age.
Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Sarah (Casella) and Ferdinand Giannelli.
Guy owned and operated Karl Gennelly, Inc. employing over 35 people and located on Water St., Boston. It had a barbershop, tailor shop and provided hat cleaning, shoe repair and shoe shine services all in one location. It was a supermarket of grooming services in the heart of downtown Boston. He retired in 1971. He also enjoyed his membership and many friends at the Medford Lodge Elks.
He is survived by his sister Evelyn Holland. Many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grand nephews. He was a devoted friend to Marcia, Frederick and Alyssa Altman.
Guy was predeceased by his cherished friend Frances Bowes. Three sisters, Constance Fortunato, Helen Fusco and Rose Giannelli, also two brothers Andrew, and Carl Giannelli.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 68 Cardinal O´Connell Way, Boston Tuesday, November 22, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
