Larry G. Lajoie, 59 of Derry, NH, died Friday, November 18, 2005 at his home. Mr. Lajoie was born in Lowell, MA on November 19, 1945, a son of the late Joseph and Thelma (Mertrued) Lajoie. He joined the US Navy in 1967 and served aboard the USS Boston. He married Debbie Geoffroy on May 24, 1969. They moved to Salem, NH in 1969 and then to Derry, NH in 1976. He worked as an industrial machine mechanic for various companies in southern NH and MA before retiring in 2002. Mr. Lajoie enjoyed camping, cooking, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Odd Fellows Echo Lodge #61 of Derry. He was the past Noble Grand of Hillsborough Lodge, Manchester and currently the Vice Grand of Echo Lodge at the time of his passing. Mr. Lajoie was also a member of the NAFCA welcome chapter camping group. His camping friends were his campfire family.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Debbie L. (Geoffroy) Lajoie of Derry, two sons, Larry J. Lajoie and his wife Tammy of Concord, NH, Jeffrey K. Lajoie and his wife April of Manchester, NH, three grandchildren, Nicholas, Julia, and Dylan Lajoie, five sisters, Sue Holt of Nashua, NH, Jean Cook of Rome, NY, Joan Gauthier of Sanford, ME, Ellen Colius of Dracut, MA, his twin sister, Nancy Whiting of Nashua and also by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph P. Lajoie.
Calling hours were held on Monday, November 21st, 2005 from 4-7 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry with the service following at 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 Route 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032.
