Obituary

WORCESTER___Albin Leniek, 86, a retired senior field engineer for Mass Electric Co., died Tuesday November 15 in Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St. His wife, Bernice (Czyryca) Leniek, predeceased him after 54 years of marriage.

He leaves a daughter, Deborah J. Cozzolino of Laguna Niguel, Ca, a brother, Daniel Leniek and a sister, Helen Fela both of Oxen Hill, Md, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Joseph Leniek and a sister, Jenny Buczyk predeceased him. He was born in Park Hill, Pa, son of Frank and Katie (Draba) Leniek and graduated from Franklin Borough High School and the Dunwoody Hood Institute. He attended Worcester Junior College.

Mr. Leniek was an Army veteran of World War II serving from Oct. 4, 1939 to Oct. 14, 1945. He served overseas at Albrook Field, the Canal zone; Chame Rio Hate, Republic of Panama; Hollandia, New Guinea, Tackloban, Leyte Islands, Philippines; IE Shima, off the northwest coast of Okinawa and Manila, Philippines. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, the American Campaign and Defense Service Medals, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Philippine Ribbon. He was a member of the American Legion, Polish American Veterans of World War II and was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.

The funeral will be held Monday November 21 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 am. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday November 21 from 8 to 10 am. in the funeral home.
