Leon O. Bunker, 81, of Salem, NH died Thursday, November 17, 2005 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH following a period of ill health. He was born in Derry on November 24, 1923, the son of the late Fred M. and Lottie (Parker) Bunker. He had resided in Salem since 1962. During the 1950’s and 60’s Mr. Bunker was a firefighter in Derry, and later was employed as a mechanical assembler by Craig Systems of Amesbury, MA until his retirement in 1988. He had been an active member with the Salem Seniors.
He is survived by a daughter, Janet F. Houghton and husband Jack of Salem, a son, Eugene Fiset and wife Terry of Wilmot, NH, four grandchildren, Jay Houghton, Christy Branham, Tony Fiset and Mary Fiset, four great grandchildren, a sister, Amy Bunker of Derry, two brothers, Howard Bunker of Derry and Fred Bunker of Michigan, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Josephine Fiset Bunker.
A funeral service was held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 21st in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Burial followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. Calling hours were held on Sunday, November 20th from 3 to 6 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
