Leonard “Lamar” Pate, 81, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at his residence. A graveside service will be held for Mr. Pate at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Oklahoma Baptist Church Cemetery in Pitts, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Mike Bennett will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 31, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born December 25, 1936 in Turner County, Mr. Pate was the son of the late Cleveland Pate and Christine Warren Pate. Before retiring, he was a lead mechanic at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany.
Mr. Pate is survived by his wife, Clara Mae Cox Pate of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifton Lamar “Cliff” and Judy Pate of Enigma and Leonard “Dewayne” and Tammy Pate of Lenox; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ted Cox of Saint Augustine, Florida; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John A. and Nita Pate of Warner Robins and Ronnie and Shirley Pate of Leesburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Terry Akins of Sylvester; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
