Obituary

Jean “John” Paul Lariviere, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his 4 children. He was born on June 7, 1928 in Chicopee. Jean was the son of the late Valmore and Yvonne (Richard) Lariviere. He is also predeceased by his loving step mother, Noella (McClure) Lariviere. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He lived in Chicopee and Ludlow for many years and also in Belchertown. John was the owner of the Convenient Corner Store in Ludlow for over 35 years before he retired in 1993. He was a former communicant of Assumption Church, St John the Baptist Church in Ludlow and former member of the League of the Sacred Hearts. He is predeceased by his wife Claire (Asselin) Lariviere who passed away in 2009. He is survived by his son Paul Lariviere of Ware; 3 daughters, Suzanne Menard and her husband George of Chicopee, Linda Roxo and her husband Joseph of Belchertown and Denise Kukla and her husband Joseph of Ludlow; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by his brother Donald Lariviere. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10:00 am from the Grise Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Church at 11:00 am.
