Obituary


Center Sandwich, N.H.- Jane Allyn Pinney Brewer Foster, 90, passed away on May 9, 2018. Born on May 29, 1927 in Hartford, CT to Sydney D. and Louisa W. Pinney, Jane grew up up in Wethersfield, CT. She married Roberts W. Brewer in 1951 and they had two girls, Louisa Wells and Terry Elizabeth. Bob and Jane moved to Center Sandwich in 1957 to raise their family.

Jane received her BS from Boston University and her Masters degree in Counselling from Plymouth State College. She was employed in a variety of professions including Personnel for the Travelers Ins. Co., Hartford, CT; Surveyor’s Assistant for Roger B. Merriman, Center Sandwich, NH; Counsellor with NH Employment Services; Designer of the original NOW Accounts for the Meredith Village Savings Bank; Counsellor and Social Worker with NH Division of Children & Youth Services; as well as Treasurer for the Sandwich Trustee of Trust Funds.

Volunteering was very important in Jane’s life, and she did it well. She served as leader, trainer and on board of directors with the Swift Water Girl Scout Council; charter member for Laconia Mental Health; counsellor and trainer with the Upstream Program; treasurer and homeowner counselor with Lakes Region Habitat for Humanity; original founder of the Sandwich Community Theatre group; co-founder for Community Caregivers; board member with Geneva Point Center, The Barnstormers Theatre and the Sandwich Budget Committee; and was on many committees with her church in Melvin Village. She was most proud of her support of the Mayhew Program for boys at risk on Newfound Lake in Bristol, NH.

Jane was predeceased by her parents, brother Sid D. Pinney, and husbands Bob Brewer in 1985 and Robert Foster in 2006.

Jane leaves her daughters Louisa W. Bryant (Bob) of Center Sandwich, NH and Terry E. Paquette (Tom) of Rochester, VT, grandson Ty Bryant (Kim) of Center Sandwich, granddaughter Elizabeth Bryant Madigan (Derek) of Meredith, NH, granddaughter Sarah Paquette Williams (Josh) of Arundel, ME, and granddaughter Allyson Paquette Johnson (Chris) of Malden, MA, and beloved great grandchildren Jennifer and Joshua Madigan and Taylor and Jackson Bryant.

A celebration of life will be held on June 30 at 1p.m. at the Melvin Village Community Church, 476 Governor John Wentworth Hwy, Melvin Village, NH.

In lieu of flowers, please spend some time volunteering at an organization of your choice in Jane’s name.
