Obituary

BRUNSWICK-John Andrew Banionis, 59, of 25 Willow Grove Road, died Saturday, November 12th at home. He leaves his wife of 32 years; Judith A. (Shepard) Banionis, 2 daughters; Jill Barrett and her companion, Matthew Pettingill of Brunswick, ME and Jamie wife of Jason Gibbons of Woolwich, ME; his father; John L. Banionis of Millbury and 2 grandchildren; Kelsey and Kaleb Barrett.


He was born in Worcester, his mopther was the late Beatrice (Mason) Banionis. He graduated from St. Stephen’s High School, The College of the Holy Cross and received a MBA from Rivier College in Nashua. Mr. Banionis was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of the Vietnam Era and was employed by L.L. Bean in Freeport, ME until retiring in December of 2004. Previously, he worked for 25 years in the shoe industry. Mr. Banionis was an avid New England baseball and football fan, a collector of sports memorabilia and a collector of coins. He was a member of St. Casimir’s Church and a member of American Legion Post #202 in Topsham, ME.


The funeral is Thursday, November 17th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Casimir’s Church, 41 Providence Street. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum. Calling hours are Wednesday, November 16th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Humane Society, 30 Range Road, Brunswick, ME. 04011.
