Obituary



Paxton – Bernard A. Roy, 63, of 3 Camelot Dr. died on Sunday November 13 in his home after being stricken ill.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Stephanie J. (Mitchell) Roy; a daughter Stephanie P. and her husband Jeffrey Ryan of Richmond, VA; his father L. Alfred Roy of Worcester; a brother Alfred L. Roy of West Dennis; two grandchildren Alden and Adrienne; several nephews and nieces. Mr. Roy was born in Worcester son of Isabelle P. (Phaneuf) Roy. Mr. Roy served in the United States Coast Guard.

Bernie graduated from South High School and the New England Institute in 1963. He worked as a licensed funeral director at Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home from 1963 until his death and was the president and treasurer of Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home until 2004.

Mr. Roy was a licensed pilot. He was a member of the Harmony Club of Worcester, the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243 and the Main South American Legion Post. He was a car enthusiast who enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his pets.

The funeral will be held on Thursday November 17 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a Mass at 10 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church 53 Illinois St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday November 16 in the funeral home from 3 to 8 PM. The Harmony Club of Worcester will perform a ritual at 4PM during calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League 139 Holden Street Worcester, MA 01606.
