Roy Carlos Costa Jr., 22, died unexpectedly at the home of his father on Saturday, March 24, 2018, in West Union, SC. He was born and brought up in the West End of New Bedford before moving to West Union, SC with his family. He finished his freshman year at N.B.H.S. before joining Job Corps in Grafton, MA, where he completed his G.E.D and obtained his license as an apprentice electrician.
Survivors include his 2 daughters Mia Lorraine Costa and Raye Jacqueline Costa of New Bedford, his father Roy Carlos Costa Sr. of West Union, SC his mother Renee Deboise of Springfield, MA, his brother Darius Roy Costa of Seneca, SC. He was the grandson of the late Lorraine (Yiyie) Duarte and John Guy Gomes of New Bedford, the late Harry Deboise of Springfield, MA and of Peter and Toni Schopf of Middletown, RI. He was the nephew of Linda Willis of New Britain, CT, and the fiance of Lisa Sylvia and stepfather of Alexus Sylvia and Neveah Lamb of New Bedford, MA, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be held Monday, May 7, 2018, with immediate family gathering at Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home at 9 a.m. The Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Mill Street, New Bedford, followed by burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery on Mt. Pleasant Street. There will be refreshments at the repast, following the cemetery, at the Elks Lodge from 12-3 p.m, all are welcome to attend.
