WORCESTER-Lena M. (Sloan) Riopel, 93, of 1558 Main Street, died Thursday, November 10th in the Meadows of Leicester. Her husband, Leo Arthur Riopel died in 1980. She leaves 2 sons; Leo J. and Robert P. Riopel both of Worcester, 2 daughters; Doris M. Turpin of E. Brookfield and Shirley F. Nelson of Charlton, a sister; Eleanor Biscornette of Cherry Valley, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; a great-great-grandson many nephews and nieces. Her daughter; Margaret M. Sainsbury, 5 brothers; Joseph, Anthony, Daniel, Michael and Frank Sloan, 3 sisters; Rose Formica, Mary Renuard and Doris Gauch predeceased her.
She was born in Providence the daughter of Carlos Occhianero and Michelina (Caticone) Sloan and moved to Leicester in 1915. Mrs. Riopel was employed by Hahnemann Hospital as a housekeeper for 23 years, until retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, and enjoyed Bingo and playing cards.
The funeral is Monday, November 14th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, November 13th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
