Obituary

Pantalion, Marcus G. “Gip”

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle passed away on March 31, 2018. Marc was born on October 2, 1927 near Martinsville, TX to Tom and Susie (Y’Barbo) Pantalion. He grew up on small farms in the Blackjack and Attoyac communities in Nacogdoches County, TX.

In 1946, Marc joined what was then the U.S. Army Air Forces, and within five years achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He proudly served for 15 years, stationed mostly at Lackland AFB, TX, Sampson AFB, NY and Tachikawa AFB, Japan.

Marc met Betty (Barslou), the love of his life, while both were stationed at Lackland AFB. They were married in San Antonio, TX on October 3, 1957, and moved to Minnesota in 1961. Marc worked for the Gillette Company in St. Paul, MN from 1962 until he retired in 1989.

Marc was active in Alcoholics Anonymous. Celebrating sobriety since 1962, he generously helped numerous others take steps toward recovery.

Marc loved to fish, raise horses, cook barbecue and drive his restored 1957 Pontiac Super Chief to car shows. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Marc was faithful and attended Catholic Mass on a regular basis. He worked hard and took pride in taking care of his wife, children and grandchildren.

Marc is survived by his adored wife of 60 years, Betty (Barslou) Pantalion; children Thomas “Tom” Pantalion (Debbie), Joseph “Joe” Pantalion, Lisa Welch (Dennis), Sheila Pantalion (Jim); and grandchildren Daniel “Danny” Pantalion (Sara), Madeline “Maddy” Pantalion, Joseph “Joey” Pantalion, Savanna Welch, Maisie Simpson, Audrey Simpson, Morgan Welch and Maria Welch. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was loved by family and friends near and far. He will be missed every day.
