Obituary

Edward P. Silva. Age 84. Husband of Natalie B. Silva, formerly Monis and the late Mary (Luciano) Silva. Residence Somerset and Delray Beach, FL. Died Tuesday in Fall River at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, MA. Son of the late Antonio P. Silva and the late Maria (Rebello) Silva. He was a resident of Somerset since 1969. He also resided in Delray Beach, FL. Prior to retiring; he had worked as an Electrician at Quonset Naval Base Power Plant. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II serving in the Northern Solomons, Eastern Mandates, Western Pacific, Southern Philippines, and Luzon. He was the recipient of the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. He was a parishioner of St. John of God Church and he was a 4th Degree Knight in the Monsignor Leal Furtado Council of the Knights of Columbus and also a member of the Highpoint Community Club of Delray Beach, FL.

Besides his Wife of Somerset and Delray Beach,FL he is survived by: 2 Sons: Leonard E. Silva of Somerset and Stephen R. Silva of Fall River. 1 Daughter: Cynthia (Silva) Higham of Martha’s Vineyard. 1 Step-daughter: Natalie Monis of Fall River. 1 Sister: Juliette Almeida of Fall River. 5 Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.

His Funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 North Main St. Saturday at 8:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset at 9:00 AM. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling Hours Friday 4-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
