Allan F. Harper,62, of 141 North St., died Tuesday, Nov. 8
at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester.
He leaves two sons Jay E. and his wife Karen Harper of Mansfield, N.J., and
Christian D. and his wife Jennifer Harper of Shrewsbury, a daughter Lori A.
and her husband Paul Furtado of Lowell, a sister Debra Schubert of
N.Brookfield and a brother Robert Harper of Spencer, five grandchildren
Matthew and Jeffrey Furtado of Lowell, Megan, Nick and Jared Harper of
Mansfield, N.J., several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harper was a support advocate at "Bridges of Central Mass." in
Southbridge before retiring in June. Previously he worked as facilities
director in the Gloucester Public School System for 7 years and prior as
business manager of the Chemical Engineering and Chemistry Depts. at
Worcester Polytechnic Institute for 20 years.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Edward F. Harper and Myrtle I.
(Lynds) Harper who died August, 7th. He was a graduate of David Prouty High
School and Clark Univ. in Worcester. He was a member of the E.Brookfield
Baptist Church, member and past president of the Lions Club of the
Brookfields former member of the Spencer/E.Brookfield Regional School
Committee and once served on the E.Brookfield Board of Health. He was very
involved with various youth activities in the area and was a past Boy Scout
Leader in E.Brookfield. At onetime, Mr. Harper wrote a weekly article called
"Harper's Bazaar" for the local New Leader. He was an avid lover of animals.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the E.Brookfield
Baptist Church, 262 E. Main St., E.Brookfield. Burial will precede the
service with a graveside service at 10 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Drake
St., E.Brookfield. Calling hours are private. Please omit flowers,
contributions may be made to the MSPCA, 350 S.Huntington Ave., Boston, Ma.
