Obituary

FALL RIVER - Frederick Ferdinand Hajjar, 87, of 4901 No. Main St., Fall River, MA. formerly of Quequechan St., Fall River, MA., died Monday at Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center. Husband of the late Eva (Mizher) Hajjar. Father of Mrs. Roger (Charlotte) Assad and Mrs. Ronald(Carmela “Connie”) Albert. Grandfather of Thomas, Roger, Ava, and William Assad and John Albert. Brother of Carlos Hagar, Olga Hagar, Yvonne Hagar, and Mora Ruiz of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Great grandfather of 6 and several niece and nephews all in Mexico. He was also brother of the late Antonio, Alberto, and Raymundo Hagar, Charlotta Hagar, and Edith Rosado.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. the son of the late Latfala Hajjar and the late Carmela (Lixa) Hajjar. For the first 20 years of his life he resided in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, then moved to Fall River in 1938. Before retiring in 2002, he was a Car Salesman for 55 years for Fall River Ford, Garten Ford, and Levar Ford. He owned & operated a Dry Cleaners/Fruit Stand, and in the early 1940’s, he was a Short Order Cook at the former Granite Block Spa, 65 years ago. He was a member of the Mt. Hope Masonic Lodge, and the Calvary United Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed visits to his family in Mexico, vacationing in Florida with his wife of 58 years, before her death in 1997, and spending summers at Horseneck Beach.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St., Fall River, MA. on Thursday at 8:45 A.M. followed by a funeral service in Calvary United Presbyterian Church, Harrison St., Fall River, MA. at 10:00 A.M. Internment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8 P.M.
