Roland E. Marcotte, 84 of Derry, NH passed away on Wednesday March 21, 2018 after battling cancer. Roland was born August 21, 1933 in Epping, NH and was a son of the late Leo and Yvonne (Grondin) Marcotte. He was raised and educated in Rochester, NH and had been a longtime resident of Derry.
Roland served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1956. He was a 33 year employee of the Internal Revenue Service, prior to his retirement. Roland was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church of Derry and an honorary- member of the Knights of Columbus. Roland was a kind and giving man who will forever be remembered for his love of his family.
Members of the family include his wife of 18 years, Donna (Roy) Marcotte, eight children, Susan Piper and her husband Scott, Michael Marcotte, David Marcotte, Richard Marcotte and his wife Karen, Robert MacKenzie and his partner Ron Kopreski, Michelle McCoole and her husband Kerry and Michael MacKenzie. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Lynda King.
Following cremation, visiting hours were held Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 2 to 6pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue in Derry. Burial will be at a later date.
