Marjorie A. Whitney, 64, of Derry, NH died Thursday, November 3, 2005 at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry following a lengthy illness. She was born in Peterborough, NH on July 20, 1941 a daughter of the late Carl C. and Marion (Burgoyne) Whitney. Mrs. Whitney was employed in the educational field for most of her career. She was a member of the NH Association of Educational Office Professionals and held the title of president from 1988 – 1989. Mrs. Whitney was also a founding member of the Red Hat Society in Derry where she was the Queen Mother. She was a very avid reader and had a vast collection of books.
She is survived by one son, Erich Whitney and wife Holly of Derry, two grandchildren, her mother of Rindge and one brother, Carl Whitney and wife Carol of Westford, MA.
Following cremation, calling hours were held on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 from 1 – 3pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A memorial service was conducted at 2:00pm during calling hours. Mrs. Whitney was an enthusiastic supporter of her son's dedication to the Pan Mass Challenge charity bike-a-thon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the PMC/Jimmy Fund and sent to Erich Whitney EW0040, Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, 77 4th Avenue, Needham, MA 02494.
