J.C. Blackstock, 62, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 1, 2005, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 4, 2005, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Glenn Fussell and Rev. Wilburn Wiley officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 Thursday evening.
Mr. Blackstock was born December 15, 1942, in Wilcox County, Georgia, to the late John Joseph “Jody” Blackstock and the late Mildred Chaney Blackstock. He lived in the community most of his life. Mr. Blackstock was a retired security officer for Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Douglas and a former employee of United Farm Tools, Paulk Manufacturing and Fitzgerald Oil & Fertilizer Company. He was a member of the Victory Singers, singing at weddings, funerals, revivals and nursing homes. Mr. Blackstock was a former coach with the Department of Leisure Services and he helped to collect toys for needy children in the community. He was a member of the Holiness faith and attended the Christian Tabernacle.
Mr. Blackstock is survived by his wife: Mary Jo Blackstock of Fitzgerald; daughter: Dee Blackstock of Fitzgerald; son: Eddie Blackstock of Fitzgerald; 3 grandchildren; sisters: Betty Pitts, Carolyn Bryan and Kay Floyd, all of Fitzgerald and Barbara Ann Brogdon of Nashville, GA. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
