Captain (USMC, retired) Richard R. Page, 83, passed away at Tift Regional Medical Center on February 6, 2018.
Captain Page was born September 1934 in Willow Springs, NC to the late James Harrison Page and Eunice Starling Page. He was married to Betty Sue Clements Page. After living in many locations around the United States, he settled with his wife, Betty, in Titusville, Florida, where they resided for 34 years. They recently relocated to Tifton.
In 1951, at age 17, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served honorably for over 30 years, retiring in October 1981 with the rank of Captain. He was a (Mustang) Officer in the USMC and received his commission in November 1968, after having achieved every enlisted and non-commissioned rank, a rare accomplishment and distinction in the
Armed Services. Captain Page served his country in Vietnam. He also served tours of duty in Okinawa, Japan, Cuba, and Norway.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Captain Page is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Sue Clements Page; his daughters Deborah Cox, Patti Page Church, Esq. and Janice Susan Page-Frische; grandchildren, Lt. Col. Nathaniel Morgan Church and wife Carrie Grabel Church, Amanda Paige Willis, Matthew
Brandon Willis and wife Hannah Willis, and Richard Kyle Matthias Frische; and great-grandchildren Monroe Paige Willis, Sawyer Gage Willis and Samantha Morgan Church.
Captain Page’s family would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the caring staffs of The Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida, Tift Regional Medical Center, The Affinity Clinic, and the Visiting Nurses Association for their many kindnesses to our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
A private service and burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D. C.
