Obituary

James Tudor Clemens

OLD ORCHARD BEACH- James T. Clemens, age 89, passed on Sunday February 4, 2018 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough. He was born on October 18, 1928 to the late John Thomas and Ethel Mae Vining Clemens

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years- Dorothy, children- Charles(Wanda), Gary(Linda), Tim(Joanne), Pam (Joseph Dillon), Chris, Amy (Kevin Descoteaux), 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Despite leaving school early in life, Jim managed a construction business that provided not only a living for his family, but pleasant living space for many local families. An honest craftsman who preferred to do business with a handshake rather than a contract, word of mouth kept the jobs coming for a seemingly tireless worker.

The Marine Corp. was home during the Korean conflict, and his service to his country continued with his fellow veterans in the American Legion where he not only served, but lead, as commander of post #57 C. Fayette Staples. A lifetime member, he helped build the membership, and community as well as literally the building itself.

Visitation will be held on Sunday Feb. 11 from 12 noon to 1 PM, followed by a 1 PM funeral service with USMC Honors at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall in Old Orchard Beach. Online condolence messages can be submitted to the funeral home’s website, www.mainefuneral.com.
