Edward E. Russell
...retired from Wang; 77
TEWKSBURY - Edward E. Russell, age 77, a resident of Tewksbury for five decades, died
Monday evening, Oct. 31, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell after a brief illness. He
was the husband of Dorothy D. (Dyer) Russell, with whom he had celebrated a 54th wedding
anniversary this past August 11th.
He was born in Westbrook, Maine, on December 1, 1927, a son of the late William and Effie
(Houston) Russell. He was raised in Westbrook, and graduated Westbrook High School.
In his earlier years he worked as a welder for the J.W. Greer Company in Wilmington. He
changed careers and became an electronic technician before retiring from Wang Laboratories.
In his later years, he was a frequent visitor to the Tewksbury Senior Drop-In Center, where he
was a member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club. He was also an avid sports fan, and especially
enjoyed the recent success of Boston’s professional sports teams.
He was a member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Nancy Russell and her husband James E.
Russell of Alaska, Donna Russell of Woburn, Catherine E. Russell and her spouse David Hatch
of Lowell; two sons, Edward E. Russell and his wife Linda (Desharnais) of Dunstable, and James
W. Russell and his spouse Linda Neumayer of Ashby; a brother, William Russell and his wife
Margit of AZ; a sister-in-law Sue Russell of NM; his father and mother-in-law, Horace and
Thelma (McMillan) Dyer of Dayton, ME; six grandchildren, Allison and her husband Bryan,
Victoria, Eric and his wife Kim, Emily, Jennifer and her husband Christian, and Jason; seven great
grandchildren, Joshua, Kelsey, Andrew, Natalie, Eric, Eddy, and Sophie; and several nieces and
nephews.
He was also brother of the late Donald Russell.
His Funeral Service was held Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Tewksbury United Methodist Church. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to
the Tewksbury Senior Drop-In Center, Building Fund, 175 Chandler St. Tewksbury, MA 01876
will be appreciated.
