Obituary

Millbury-Edward A. Henry, 77, of 26 Leslie Lane died Tuesday, June 11th in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Alice C. (Andrews) Henry; a daughter, Karen C. Etre of Millbury; a grandson, Christopher Etre and 3 great grandchildren, Branden and Kirsten Etre all of North Grafton and Victoria Lenihan of Oxford. A brother John “Jackie” F. Henry predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester, son of Augusta and Hannah (O’Brien) Henry. Mr. Henry grew up in Worcester and settled in Shrewsbury before moving to Millbury. He graduated from Worcester Vocational School in 1942 and entered the Navy in July of that year. He was a Navy veteran serving as a gunman in WWII, Europe, Africa, Asia and in the South Pacific. He also received numerous medals of wartime endeavors and ribbons. Mr. Henry worked at Coppus Engineering Co. as an assembler for 28 years, retiring in 1987. He was a fomer member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 170 and was a member of the Boiler Maker's Union. He enjoyed spending his time with family, friends and especially his great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday, June 15th in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue (oconnorbrothers.com) at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Calling hours will be Friday, June 14th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
