Obituary

Robert N. Bowker age 96 of Brockton, died Thursday January 18, 2018 at Life Care of West Bridgewater. He was the husband of Mildred L. (Nelson) Bowker for 71 years. Born and raised in Bridgewater a son of the late Clarence and Mary (Turner) Bowker Robert had lived in Brockton for the 71 years.

A graduate of Bridgewater High School Robert served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired from the New England Telephone Company after 40 years as a lineman and repair technician.

Robert was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, a champion bowler, loved playing cribbage and whist and enjoyed dancing on Friday nights. He also enjoyed cross country camping and had visited all 50 states. Robert also enjoyed taking Elder Tours with his wife around the world and was quite proud to have gone white water rafting in Costa Rica in his 90’s.

A longtime communicant of St. Margaret Church, Robert also taught CCD and was a basketball coach.

Robert was the father of Carol Bradford and her husband Al of Middleboro, Patricia Crooker and Jeanne Bowker both of Brockton. Michael Bowker and his wife Celeste of Palm Coast, FL; Mary Bowker of Jackson, WY; Karen Bishop and her husband Scott of Hooksett, NH and the late Dianne Bowker and Teresa Coyle. He leaves 13 grandchildren Dianne, Eileen, Kathleen, Christian, Sam, Katelin, Lindsey, Haley, Sarah, Alison, Scott, Hunter and Micah and was the brother of the late Clarence “Mike” Bowker, Ada Paiva, Kathleen MacDonald, Frances Bowker and Marion Vickery.

Visitation will be held at the Conley Funeral Home on Thursday January 25 from 4-7pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 8am for a funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 9am. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery in the spring.
