Obituary

WORCESTER-Stanley J. Chronis, of 12 Venus Drive, died Thursday, June 13th in the Meadows of Leicester. He leaves his wife, Paula Y. (Pappas) Chronis; a son Thomas T. Chronis of Pittsford, NY; 2 daughters Jean Chronis-Kuhn of Shrewsbury, and Vicky E. Lalos of Worcester; a sister Christine Thornell of San Antonio, TX; 9 grandchildren, Heather Kuhn of Allston, Michael, Evangeline and Lukas Kuhn all of Shrewsbury, Evan, Leah and Joseph Lalos all of Worcester and Griffin and Lanthe Chronis both of Pittsford, NY; and 2 nieces.

He was born in Worcester the son of Samuel and Pauline (Blair) Chronis. He was a graduate of Commerce High School, the University of Connecticut and attended Boston and Clark Universities. Mr. Chronis was a World War 2 veteran, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with the Marine Corps. He served as Director of Accounts for the Worcester Public Schools for many years, retiring in 1989. Previously he had been employed in the accounting department of the Department of Public Works, Chief Accountant for the former Worcester City Hospital and for the Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Chronis was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

The funeral will be Saturday, June 15th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, June 14th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
