Auburn___ Cecile Rita (Paquette) Baker was born October 3, 1930, daughter of Pierre and Anita (Courtemanche) Paquette and passed peacefully in her sleep with family around her Sunday September 8, 2013 after a long illness.
She is sadly missed by her loving husband, Stephen, her sister-in-law Norma and her seven children; Stephen (Sharon) , James (Deborah), Thomas (Lauren) Patricia ( Randy), Matthew, Andrew and Pamela along with grand-niece Pamela (Jason) Gerardi; grandchildren Jessica, Aaron (Gaelle) Emily (Darrell) Johns, Katrina (Anthony) Olthof, alexander and Brett (Aimee); great-grandchildren, Violet and Murphy Johns, as well as many nieces, nephews and family friends. Cecile was a strong vibrant woman, a dedicated homemaker and loving mother, grand and great-grandmother, generous with her time and talents and love. With her children grown, Cecile returned to school to acquire her GED and graduated from Quinsigamond Community College with an Associate in Business Administration. She worked as an office manager at Imperial Distributors in Auburn until she retired.
Cecile loved life, family, good food and nights out with her beloved Steve. They became accomplished square dancers and shared regular date-nights dining and dancing. She also enjoyed visiting with old friends in Auburn, relaxing at the local senior center and participating in prayer groups. Especially treasured were the summers Cecile spent with Steve at Yankeeland Camp Ground in Kennebunk, Maine. They could be found on many cool mornings and sunny days on Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunkport on the Atlantic Ocean.
Cecile’s Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday September 14, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. She was laid to rest near her parents and siblings in Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.
