Obituary

Frances I. (Crocker) Smith, 86, of Mattapoisett died October 27, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Ernest W. Smith.
Born in Sandwich, she was the daughter of the late Edward I. and Eva F. (Jones) Crocker.
Mrs. Smith attended the East Freetown Congregational Church.
She and her late husband were the proprietors of E. W. Smith. Co in Fairhaven for over 50 years.
Mrs. Smith was a longtime member and past president of the New Bedford Host Lioness Club and a member of the New Bedford Lions Club. She was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award and Lioness of the Year Award for Massachusetts.
Mrs. Smith enjoyed crocheting wheelchair lap afghans for the Shriners and afghans for her family and Lions Club friends.
She was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, her cat Smoky, and Lions Club friends.
Survivors include her son, Ernest W. Smith, Jr., and his wife Janet, of Osterville, MA; 2 daughters, Helen F. Donovan of Mattapoisett and Marylyn R. Beaulieu, and her husband Robert, of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Ruth C. Giovanazi of Hyannis; 2 cousins, Mildred Rigby, and her husband Bill, of Fairhaven and Geoffrey Purvis, and his wife Ingrid, of Lakeland, FL; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Richard Crocker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in the East Freetown Congregational Church, 2 Washburn Rd., East Freetown, Tuesday, November 1st at 10 AM.
Visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Monday, October 31st from 4-8 PM.
Interment Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
